Please don’t send recordings or transcripts unless we ask. What happened, roughly when, and the app version (Settings › About) are usually enough.

Common questions

Transcription is waiting because the hours are used

Recording never stops, and your audio stays on your iPhone. When your cloud hours run out, only transcription waits: it carries on by itself when your plan’s hours renew next month, or after a top-up. The plan card at the top of Settings shows your hours; Plans, on that card, shows the plans and the 20-hour top-up.

Restore a purchase

On a new or reset iPhone, sign in with the same Apple Account, then open Settings › Plans › Restore Purchases in Watchword.

Manage or cancel a subscription

Open your iPhone’s Settings › your name › Subscriptions, and choose Watchword. In the app, Settings › Plans › Manage Subscription does the same. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends so it doesn’t renew. Apple handles refunds: reportaproblem.apple.com.

Delete my data

For what the Watchword server keeps: Settings › Data & Privacy › Delete My Data on the Server. It also deletes anything still at the transcription service, and leaves your iPhone untouched.

To delete a recording for good: move it to Trash, then Delete Permanently. Its audio, transcript and summary are removed from this iPhone and from your iCloud. Watchword never deletes original audio by itself. See the Privacy Policy for what is kept where.

Turn transcription off

Settings › Transcription & Summaries › Cloud Transcription. Recording keeps working; recordings stay audio only. To skip a single recording, choose Don’t Transcribe This One on it.

Apple Watch

The Watch records on its own and hands each recording to your iPhone, keeping its copy until the iPhone has checked it. Transcripts and summaries are made from the iPhone. If Watchword isn’t on your Watch yet, install it from the Watch app on your iPhone. The Watch’s own settings are on the Watch, in Watchword › Settings.

Is my audio safe if something goes wrong?

Yes. The original audio stays on your iPhone and is never deleted automatically. If a transcription fails or waits, the recording is untouched, and you can try again from it.
