Terms of Use
Watchword is licensed to you under Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “EULA”), which is the app’s Terms of Use. The points below add only what is specific to Watchword’s cloud service. If anything here conflicts with the EULA, the EULA prevails.
The app and its cloud service are provided by the developer of Watchword (“we”), shown as the seller on Watchword’s App Store page. How we handle your data is in the Privacy Policy.
Cloud hours and fair use
- Recording is free and unlimited on your devices. Transcription, and the summaries written from it, use cloud hours: the hours of audio sent for transcription, with long silences skipped.
- Free: 3 cloud hours in your first week, once per device. Plans: Lite 15, Plus 30 and Always-on 90 hours a month, billed monthly or yearly; a yearly plan gives the same hours every month. A top-up adds 20 hours.
- A plan’s monthly hours don’t carry over. Top-ups don’t expire and are used after the plan’s own hours.
- When hours run out, recording continues and your audio stays on your iPhone. Only transcription waits, until the next month or a top-up.
- To keep the service fair and within its costs, the server sets limits, such as a day’s worth of audio per account per day and a few uploads at a time, and may pause transcription briefly when a provider does. We may stop an account that abuses the service, for example by misreporting how long its audio is or by using someone else’s purchase.
Purchases
Plans and top-ups are sold only through Apple’s In-App Purchase, at the price shown in the app. Subscriptions renew automatically, monthly or yearly, until you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period, in your iPhone’s Settings › your name › Subscriptions. Apple charges your Apple Account and handles refunds under its own policies. Top-ups are paid once and don’t renew.
Transcripts and summaries can be wrong
Transcripts, summaries, titles and topics are written by automated systems (speech recognition and language models). They can contain mistakes, including in who said what, and we don’t guarantee that they are accurate or complete. Check anything important against the original audio, which stays on your device.
Recording other people
Laws on recording other people differ from place to place, and some require everyone’s consent. You’re responsible for following them where you record, and for telling people when that’s required. Don’t use Watchword to record anyone unlawfully.
Your recordings
What you record is yours. We process it only to provide transcription and summaries, as the Privacy Policy describes.
Changes to the service
The cloud service depends on Apple, Cloudflare, Soniox and DeepInfra (and the model services DeepInfra uses), and may change, pause or be unavailable at times. We may change plans, limits and providers; recording, and the recordings already on your devices, keep working without the cloud service. We may update these terms: we’ll update this page and its effective date, and say so in the app when a change matters.
